Quetrupillan volcano ascent, 2,370masl.
The Quetrupillan volcano is also called Mocho or ‘the headless volcano’ because it lost its top during the last eruption. The climb to the top of this volcano, located about 40 kilometers from Pucón, offers incredible views of the surrounding countryside.
We will cross several kinds of trails (native forest, snow, volcanic rocks) and observe local fauna and flora. You’ll enjoy wonderful panoramic views of ancient Araucaria forests, volcanoes, lakes and lagoons, and even the Villarrica volcano glacier.
At the summit, at 2,370 meters above sea level, the impressive Lanín volcano rises in front of you, and you’ll be mesmerized by the huge glacier inside the crater of the Quetrupillan volcano.
This excursion offers a beautiful opportunity to disconnect and relax in the magnificent scenery this region has to offer.

Tour Itinerary.
We will meet at the Ermitaño Expediciones agency, where our guides will introduce themselves and help you prepare your equipment for the day.
The car ride to the base of the volcano takes about one and a half hours. We begin walking at 1,200 meters above sea level.
Upon arriving at the base of the volcano, the guides will give you instructions before starting the climb. The first part starts with a wonderful native forest (during 2 hours). (400 m vertical drop).
Upon reaching an elevation of 1,600 meters above sea level, as the forest gives way, we'll be greeted with a panoramic view of the entire volcano.
Perfect spot for pictures, snack, and rest.
During winter, the entire volcano is covered in snow. In the summer, our path is primarily over rocky terrain. (there is no glacier on the way).
At the summit, at 2,370 meters above sea level, the impressive Lanín volcano rises in front of you, and you’ll be mesmerized by the huge glacier inside the crater of the Quetrupillan volcano.
From this vantage point, you'll enjoy a breathtaking 360° view encompassing other volcanoes, lakes, lagoons, native forests, the Andes mountains, and, of course, the glacier of the Villarrica volcano.
If the weather permits, we'll have the opportunity to eat lunch at the summit and rest for 30 minutes.
The way down the volcano is a unique experience.
Fully-equipped with waterproof pants and a sled, you’ll slide down on the snow! This takes between 20 minutes and one hour.
However, depending on the conditions of the snow, we might have to walk some of all the way.
Aproximative hour.
The activity ends at the agency, where you will be received with a refreshing drink or beer and a delicious snack. It’s a wonderful moment to celebrate your achievement and reflect on your experience of climbing Quetrupillan volcano !

A disfrutar!!
